Native American artist Ivan Doney creates various pieces of art through visions from his Native American heritage.

These visions allow him to proudly create his art from the heart showing pride for his culture and ancestry. Although he is a multi-media artist, his great detail and the knowledge he possesses for metallurgy make his metal images and metal sculptures the most popular of his artistic mediums.

Born in Great Falls, Montana, Ivan's descent is French Canadian and Chippewa indian. He is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Agency in Belcourt, North Dakota.

After graduating from high school, Ivan continued his education in Seattle, Washington where he studied welding and metallurgy for aeronautics. He spent 6 years learning the science and technology of metals. He has worked with various metals for over 40 years.

Much of Ivan's natural talent comes from being a self-taught artist who creates art from his heart and soul. His metal images and metal sculptures are one of a kind and cannot be duplicated. He has displayed and sold his art professionally since 1999.

Ivan gets drive and spirit from many family members. His great-grandmother, who was a little girl during Custer's last stand, shared many historical stories with him; his great-grandfather was a Frenchman who rode for the pony express; his grandfather and father raised, broke, and sold horses to the US army.

Ivan's western art comes from many years of team roping, rasing horses and rodeo competition.

Ivan moved to Oregon in the early 1970s after serving two tours in the Vietnam war.
